Sunday, we continued our way down the Hudson River. It was a beautiful sunny day with breathtaking views. We passed by the US Military Academy at West Point, wow it is a fortress! We anchored for the night just a bit south of there. Here are some photos from our beautiful Sunday…
On Monday morning we pulled up our muddy anchor and set sail for New York City! It was another glorious day as we finished our journey on the Hudson River and came into Manhattan. Amazing and surreal is all we can use to describe this ride down the west side to Lower Manhattan. We did a fly by of the Statue of Liberty, dodging all the tour boat craziness, and managed a few great pics of Lady Liberty. We pulled in our marina for the night which was right next door, and boy what a view!
We were right across the channel from Jersey City, NJ (which has changed soooo much, for the better!, since we had both lived in NYC in the 1980’s). We rode our bikes to pick up groceries and scope out the veterinarian office where George had an appt that evening, just 1.8 miles from the boat. George’s appt went well, he has a pretty bad ulcer on his eye that we will try to clear up with several meds. He, of course, does not like the meds but we, mostly Bob, is managing to get them in the eye. The doc feels it may take a month for him to recover from this infection. We cannot praise this vet clinic enough, Veterinaire in Jersey City, amazing folks who went above and beyond. It was a crazy, long day of travel, errands, the vet appt and laundry BUT we ended the day with a visit from Kelsey and Vinnie! Kelsey is Julie’s daughter Grace’s dear friend and Big Sis from her days at Roanoke College. We had such a great night on the rooftop of Robes. Cocktails, charcuterie, Italian pastries (from K and V) and the lights of lower Manhattan and the almost full moon!
Journeying north Tuesday morning, bound for Boston!
Wow, what great views of NYC! Hoping George heals quickly and well.
I hope George is feeling better soon. !
